5 bucks to get in. There were 2 teams, purple and white. Vince, Antonio,
Mo Pete, Hunter and Mamadou were on Purple. I'm not gonna list the teams
but this is what I got from that game:
- Vince looked like old Vince, which was bad in the begining of the game.
i.e. disappeared on offence/defense, too many jumpers, lack of focus. By
the second half, his whole demeanour changed. He communicated well on
offense, played hard defense and got his team to tie from a 12 point deficit
heading into the quarter. In the huddles, he always kept his focus, even
when he wasn't one of the five on court, he'd be the sixth guy in the
huddle, also the first off the bench to congradulate his team. He threw
down a nasty one handed dunk to tie the game which made the whole gym errupt
in the 3rd (He also made a 360 look too easy in warmups). I can tell you
this, nothing like that was ever done on a waterloo rim. For Vince, things
look promising. He is a changed man. I remember the open practice at the
ACC, and he's totally different from that. - Mamadou was impressive. He worked hard on the boards, on defence, very
athletic and active. He doesn't have great hands and is not as athletic as
Keon, but from the game, he can put in a productive 10 minutes a game at
least. He does need work. - Bradley and Huffman did not look very good. They looked awkward and
lost. They need some work. - Jeffries is still a bit shaky with the knee, but he looks like he can be
really good. He needs to assert himself more, he has the talent. He also
hit the eventual game winning 3 point shot with 7 seconds left. - Mo Pete lit it up after Vince went to the bench (from bringing his team
back from 12). Mo can light things up on home court, but I want to see him
prove himself on an away court. He looks poised and ready for the season. - AD looked tired, and not very impressive. He looks like the guy who
worked the hardest all week, but his body looked too tired for the game. He
did not play much and was ineffective when he did. We all know what we'll
get from him. - Lindsey hunter and Murray look impressive. Lindsey can definitely
handle and shoot and he is quicker than I thought he'd be. I like the
addition. He lacks the toughness of Childs though, but at least he is in
shape at training camp. Murray showed he can do what he does, score. He's
a perimeter player and doesn't take it to the rim that much. He looked a
bit over weight, but conditioned. He can score. - Jerod Ward and McCoy played well. They look like they deserve a spot on
the team. At least more than Huff and Brad. Jermaine Jackson was crap with
shooting, but he was ok otherwise. Jermaine was frustrated. Alvin didn't
play.
I did not see the whole training camp, so I'm reporting what I saw in the
game. This season looks promising. I wouldn't believe it till I saw it,
but Vince is a new man.
Here's to a successful season.
