Re: Happy Canada Day
L,
I haven't had the maple syrup here yet. I only eat cereal, pizza, and granola bars. It reminds me of my school diet.
On a side note:
There are limits to what constitutes a joke. I don't appreciate it when random people make serious and outrageous claims about me. Even worse, these people share these claims with the people around me. It's happened before and it's happened recently.
I like to joke around too, but you have to know where to draw the line. Please show some respect.
Thanks.

If you don't know DJ Premier, he's a hip hop legend who has produced for Nas, Gangstarr, Biggie, Freddie Fox to name a few...I'm really excited about that. There are some other MCs performing with him.
I watched the BET awards. I can't believe people like Alicia Keys and Beyonce exist. They're specially hand crafted by God. Alicia Keys is my favourite artist by the way.
Kanye West performs the way hip hop artists should perform: speak clear and perform with heart. It was a stark contrast to the East Side Toys who performed before him.

farenheit
It was an entertaining and enlightening movie that teaches that you should observe life analytically, not passively. You can't believe everything you hear on the news or even in this movie.
With the response this movie is getting, there is no way Bush will get re-elected.
...O Canada...

I fell in
We're in the middle of a 3 hour trip down the Skykomish river. We are at the rapid after the supposedly biggest rapid. Naturally, we think nothing of this current rapid. Apparently every other rafting guide told their crew about the "Lunch hole". This hole acts much like flushing a toilet except that the water level doesn't go down. It has the effect of sucking one side of your raft so that your raft is vertical. It's like this at the bottom left of the picture:
We were in six man raft + 1 guide. I was in the front left, the guide is in the back. I had no idea it was coming. We hit a big splash. Three guys flip backwards simultaneously like they were scuba diving. At first I chuckled because it looked like synchronized swimming.
Before I could complete my smile, our raft whips around 180 degrees which tossed out the other dude in the front. There are three people left in the raft: me in the front, a dude in the middle, and our guide. Our raft is now almost vertical. In this situation, we are supposed to get to the high side of the raft. I'm currently at the bottom. I yell at the guy in the middle to get to the top. He's frozen. He's in my way so I can't get to the top. The pressure of the water on my legs is growing and I know I'm going to go for a swim.
I have no leverage. The guide at the top of the boat has no leverage. The guy in the middle has all four limbs wrapped around something. A sideways wave knocks the guide and me off the raft. I fall right in the middle of the hole.
My experience is painted by stupid moves followed by less stupid moves.
Stupid Move: I manage to catch the rope on the side of the raft. I'm underwater, but I try to pull my self back into the raft. I expended a lot of energy just to do a chin up.
Less Stupid Move: Why would I want to get back in the raft which is stuck in the hole? With blind faith, I let go and try to relax.
I'm quickly pulled underwater, but I don't move anywhere. I'm stuck under the boat.
Stupid Move: I panic and try to swim away. I've already used a lot energy and this can't be a good move. I do this for a couple seconds
Less Stupid Move: I relax and try to let the current take me...and it does.
A few seconds pass as I'm being whipped around underwater. The river decides to tease me and releases my head briefly to the surface. This brief moment allows me to realize that I'm still in the middle of the rapid. Before a breath could be taken, I'm pulled back under water.
Stupid move: I panic again and try to fight. At this point, I have negative air supply. In my mind, death is a certain possibility.
The sound of rushing water is massively intense. Even when you relax it still feels like you are wasting energy because you are being whipped around.
A few seconds later, I get my first breath. I glance back to where my last breath was taken and realize it was 30 meters away. I'm also not so far from the next rapid, so I utilize my Blue level swimming skills to swim to shore.
Immediately, I was worried about the others. Most escaped with nothing more than a good story. One guy, however, dislocated his shoulder.
I was really looking forward to this trip and it exceeded my expectations. This was absolutely awesome. I've come as close to death as I've ever been, so would I do it again?
Hell yeah!

I'm excited. I haven't gone since 1998!
I used to know the punchline to that joke. That material is archived in my brain somewhere.

random thoughts
Very recently, I totally outruled getting my masters right after graduation. Not that I'm gonna do it, but I've opened up the possibility.
Spam is getting out of hand....geez, maybe I'll just use my gmail account.
Seattle has incredible views of the city. It's like a blessing.
I've downloaded every single episode of Justice League. I've been a massive super hero fan my whole life. They're like my mentors. How sad.
Bittorrent is the shzz
Re:BAD NEWS
I'm sure it went better than what you say. If you look at the history of 5th element auditions, I wouldn't say we did well on any of them. We still get our shows though.
If I was out there all alone, I don't think I'd make any noise.
Keep your chin up dude. I know your routine is dope.

When people film the practice
Hey I found housing. We split up and got two rooms next to each other at Eby Hall, so I'm roomie with Dave next term.
Got a co-op term at imason in dt TO this term. I heard good things, so it should be cool.
Pigged out for 5 hours straight today. Will write more on my site soon.
Hope Kayaking was fun. I went kayaking twice in SD. One of my friends had issues balancing himself. Wasn't a pretty sight.
kayak
Yesterday, I went to the Seattle breaking spot. I went there early when almost no one was there. I got some good practice in, but TV people came in to film the practice. They began to take over the practice telling people what to do and when to do it. They wanted us to break with no music. It felt kinda silly so people started to act gay, likey really gay in front of the camera. B-boys/girls are the same world wide.
I couldn't take any more of it so I left the practice. I was tired anyway. It's been a long week.
what are you doing?

PICTURES FOR RONALD BRENT JAVIER
today
Re: Aww..
For those of you who don't know, Jessefecks is a b-girl from Seattle. Her crew is called Vixens. She also happens to be a girlfriend of the famous Dyzee (Karl). I knew Karl back in the day, like back in the day. There is some good talent here. I'm not so into the scene in Toronto (5th Element likes to keep themselves), but it's comparable here. Vixens are good too. Jessefecks can do halos.
I am seriously babbling here. Please excuse this mess...
Site development is going ok. I stopped for a while because I don't like programming 20 hours a day. I'm almost settled on the layout and look.
But like doing squats, most of the work will be done in the back end.

6 years
We are best friends. Our skills, talents, interests, and education vastly differ, but our definitions of what it takes to build a loving and nurturing relationship are identical.
We also understand that we can't do this alone. Along the way, our good friends have supported and helped us: Geoff, Glen, Aileen, Teo, Xiang, DaveW, Lawrence, BooM, Kuaz, and Sayson. Others have helped us as well, but these people have provided us with outstanding support and care. Dy and I thank you eternally.
Here is Dy with Di (Kuaz's gf) and Dy's best friend, Aileen:
Some 5th Element Girlfriends:
Dy and Leen
-----------------
Chicks dig dudes with fat cheeks:
The anticipation for Communion is unbearable:
In grade nine, Dy could pout her lips and squint at the same time. I couldn't even smile and keep my eyes open.
All grown up now (the day before I left for Seattle):
All there's left to say is that I love you Dy!

Things I've been doing
I've been playing ball a lot lately. My conditioning still sucks. Quickness and hops are slowly returning and the skills are coming along. I'm only playing against fellow geeks so it's hard to judge my improvement.
In terms of breaking, I have been practicing on my own for the most part. I think I did one air flare. Well it was the most air i got ever. It probably looked like crap.
// Amazon
Amazon is cool. We have a bunch of platinum records and movies. We have the same plaques and trophies as you see on artists' walls. "For Amazon.com in commemoration of selling 11 million records of "No Strings Attached" by 'Nsync" or blah blah by Hillary Duff.
// Seattle
So what's Seattle like compared to toronto?
- Downtown feels smaller here and slightly more dangerous.
- For some reason, there are always people on payphones no matter what time of day. Have I said that before on this site? I dunnno.
- Rift Raft hang out at bus stops because that's the only place they can hang out and do nothing.
- Legal age is 21 here so in the clubs, everyone seems old. When my friends and I lined up to go into a hip hop event, I heard someone say, "oh look, the age limit must be 11+"
- Buses here run routes as opposed to Toronto which run grids for the most part. So figuring out how to get somewhere is non trivial
- There are tons of filipinos in Seattle. In fact, there are a ton of filipinos across the states. I know this because I call customer service and half the time I hear a familiar FOBBY accent. Most of the filipinos in Seattle are FOBs or at least look like FOBs. So it's different from Toronto in that sense
I think that's a pretty good likst so far...
Sorry Brent Fans But...
this is getting gay because ray's site is starting to look like a brent web site...
I never hear about how ray is doing in seattle...
I think its safe to say, that this web site should be more about ray, and less gay!!!

Short Story
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother of pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there." The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," was the answer.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'd leave their best friends behind.

Love Out of Reach
I used to see her daily,we chat, we share, Come the day, reality hits with its glare. She belongs to another.
Gone is the passion, she strays in my kiss, Never will she know her happiness I miss. She works in pain, the agony I see, She hides the pain, but it is hid not from me...
Time it passes, the challenge of love insane, The time has passed she gives up,I am to blame. Her life is misery as well as mine, This the end, this the passing of the time...

seattle updates
I also went to the Northwest Folklife festival. It's not as geeky as you think!
Wow no mentions of B***t. It's unbelievable! Just joking.
I'm on the planning team for all of the interns here at Amazon. You know me, I have some crazy ideas....
